My Story
I'm a Lebanese-American mom of five who came to the U.S. determined to build a new life. I started at community college, transferred to UCLA, and earned my Bachelor's in Math/Economics and Master's in Statistics. Now I teach introductory statistics at three Los Angeles campuses and study what helps community college students succeed in mathematics.
My children, Adam, Aya, Abed, Issa, and Zachariah, are my greatest inspiration.

Every student I teach reminds me that what happens in the moment of struggle, not the lecture, decides whether they continue in math or step away. My research asks what actually moves outcomes for community college students, and reports what the data support.
Equity, Placement Reform, and AI-Assisted Teaching in Community College Mathematics
I study student outcomes in community college mathematics and statistics: what happened to course success and equity gaps under California's AB 705 and AB 1705 placement reforms, and how AI-assisted course and assessment design changes the cognitive demand of what we ask students and the distribution of their results. One paper is under review, one is in revision, and two preprints are available.
