Session 7 Family Guide
Data Science for Young Minds — Tips for families facilitating Session 7: What Did We Find Out?
Overview

Facilitating Each Lesson
Lesson 1: Asking Questions About Data
Tip: Your pictograph answers questions! Learn to ask: 'Which has the most? The fewest? How many more?' Take time to let your child explore and share their thoughts.
Try asking: "What do you think about asking questions that data can answer?"
Lesson 2: Finding the Answer in the Data
Tip: Practice pointing to your pictograph and answering questions. The answer is right there in the stickers! Take time to let your child explore and share their thoughts.
Try asking: "What do you think about finding answers by reading pictographs?"
Lesson 3: Saying What You Found
Tip: Practice the sentence: 'We found out that...' Tell others what your data shows using clear words. Take time to let your child explore and share their thoughts.
Try asking: "What do you think about using 'we found out that...' to communicate results?"
Lesson 4: Presenting to Someone
Tip: Present your pictograph to a family member. Explain what you asked, what you found, and what it means. Take time to let your child explore and share their thoughts.
Try asking: "What do you think about presenting data findings to an audience?"
