Stats Without Walls

Open the web version   User guide   learnwithoutwalls.com

Free statistical tool for all levels. Three ways to run it; all three are the same program with the same menus.

For now, use the browser version. The app is being updated almost daily as more people try it, and the web version always has the latest fixes the moment they are made. The desktop app is a snapshot and cannot update itself yet; a self-updating, Apple-signed version is coming, and when it is ready this note will go away.

1. In your browser (nothing to install)

Open Stats Without Walls

Works on any computer, Chromebook, tablet or phone. After the first visit it keeps working without internet. Your data never leaves your device.

2. Install it from the browser (offline, one click)

Open the web version, then: in Chrome or Edge, click the install icon at the right end of the address bar, or the three-dot menu, then Install Stats Without Walls. In Safari on a Mac, File, then Add to Dock. It then opens like any app and works offline.

3. Download the desktop app (offline, no browser)

Mac, Apple Silicon (M1 to M4) Mac, Intel Windows

About 100 MB each. Not sure which Mac you have? Apple menu, About This Mac: "Chip: Apple M..." means Apple Silicon, "Processor: Intel" means Intel.

Mac, first open: open the .dmg, drag the app to Applications. Because the app is not signed with a paid Apple certificate, macOS quarantines it. On most Macs, right-click (or Control-click) the app and choose Open, then Open again in the dialog, and after that it opens normally.

If the Mac says the app "is damaged and can't be opened" and there is no "Open Anyway" button under System Settings, Privacy and Security (this is what newer macOS versions do), remove the quarantine flag once: open Terminal (Spotlight, type Terminal), paste this line, press Return, and enter your Mac password if asked:

xattr -d com.apple.quarantine "/Applications/Stats Without Walls.app"

Then double-click the app as usual. The command only tells macOS that you chose to download this file; it changes nothing else. If you would rather not use Terminal, the browser version above is the same app with nothing to install.

Windows, first open: run the installer. If SmartScreen shows "Windows protected your PC", click More info, then Run anyway. The app installs for your user and puts a shortcut on the desktop.

Version 1.3.0, October 2026: the same app as the web version, with the full distrACTION set (binomial, Poisson, geometric, hypergeometric, uniform, exponential, custom discrete, normal, t, chi-square and F), z tests when sigma is given, five interval methods for a proportion, regression confidence and prediction intervals, variance and Levene tests, data tools to bin, stack, simulate and sample, new Learn applets, and every menu from Exploration to Advanced.
