About Math 54C (Support Course)
Math 54C is a co-requisite support course taken alongside Math C1000. It reviews the arithmetic, algebra, and reasoning skills that statistics builds on, with extra practice and time to ask questions. If your section is paired with 54C, both courses run together and count toward your statistics requirement.
Course Description
This course introduces statistical thinking and quantitative reasoning. Students learn to collect, organize, analyze, and interpret data using both descriptive and inferential statistical methods.

- Data collection and sampling methods
- Descriptive statistics (measures of center, spread, position)
- Data visualization and graphical displays
- Probability basics and distributions
- Normal distribution and Central Limit Theorem
- Confidence intervals
- Hypothesis testing (one and two samples)
- Correlation and regression
- Chi-square tests
