Time to Practice!

6 activities to reinforce what you learned. Try them all!

Difficulty levels: Easy Medium Challenge

1 Build a Bar Chart Easy Activity

Using your frequency table from Session 4, build a bar chart on graph paper. Include: title, labeled axes, even spacing, and colored bars. Can someone else read your graph without explanation?

2 Sticker Pictograph Easy Creative

Create a pictograph using real stickers. Survey 10+ people about something (favorite fruit, pet they want, etc.) and represent the results with stickers. Include a clear key.

3 Floor Bar Chart Medium Group Activity

Use tape on the floor to create axes. Each student stands in the column matching their answer to a survey question. Photograph the human bar chart from above. What does it show?

4 Dot Plot Practice Medium Activity

Collect the ages of 15-20 people you know. Create a dot plot on a number line. Where do the dots cluster? Are there any gaps or outliers?

5 Graph Type Matching Medium Discussion

For each dataset, decide the best graph type: (1) Favorite sports of 25 students, (2) Heights of 30 plants in centimeters, (3) Number of books read by 20 kids, (4) Pets owned by each family on your street.

6 Redesign Challenge Challenge Critical Thinking

Take one set of data and display it THREE different ways: bar chart, pictograph, and dot plot. Write a sentence about which one communicates the data best and why.
