If you have height measurements from past years (check with a parent!), plot your growth on a line graph. What trend do you see?
3 Trend Identification Medium Activity
Look at 5 different line graphs. For each one, write whether the trend is increasing, decreasing, stable, or mixed. Describe each trend in one sentence.
4 Prediction Challenge Medium Discussion
Given a line graph of monthly library book checkouts, predict what will happen in the next 3 months. Write your prediction and your reasoning. What could make your prediction wrong?
5 Real-World Trend Research Medium Research
Find a line graph showing a real-world trend (world population, global temperature, smartphone ownership). Describe the trend, make a prediction for 5 years from now, and explain your reasoning.
6 Trend Breaker Analysis Challenge Critical Thinking
Find an example where a trend suddenly changed direction (like a stock price crash or a sudden increase in something). What caused the trend to break? Could it have been predicted? Write a short analysis.
