Session 2: Practice Activities

Time to Practice!

6 activities to reinforce what you learned. Try them all!

Difficulty levels: Easy Medium Challenge

1 Probability Vocabulary Sort Easy Activity

Sort 15 events into categories: Impossible, Unlikely, Equally Likely, Likely, Certain. Examples: sun rising tomorrow, rolling a 7 on a standard die, flipping heads.

2 Fraction Probability Practice Easy Activity

Calculate the probability of: (1) Drawing a red card from a standard deck, (2) Rolling a number less than 3 on a die, (3) Spinning blue on a spinner with 4 equal sections (1 blue).

3 Fair or Unfair Game? Medium Activity

Analyze 4 games and determine if each is fair or unfair. For unfair games, explain which player has the advantage and calculate their probability of winning.

4 Design a Game Medium Creative

Design a board game or card game that uses probability. Include: rules, what makes it fun, and the probability of each outcome. Is your game fair?

5 Weather Probability Journal Medium Research

For 5 days, record the weather forecast probability and what actually happened. Did 80% chance of rain always mean rain? What did you learn about probability vs. certainty?

6 The Monty Hall Problem Challenge Critical Thinking

Research the Monty Hall Problem (a famous probability puzzle about choosing doors). Play it 20 times with a partner using cups and a coin. Does switching doors actually help? Record your results.
