Check Your Understanding

1. What are things that vary in your daily life?

Answer: Hours of sleep, daily steps, time spent on homework, meals eaten, mood, weather, and almost everything else. Very little is exactly the same every day.

2. Why is knowing your normal range useful?

Answer: It helps you set realistic expectations and notice when something is truly unusual. If you normally sleep 7-9 hours, 6 hours is slightly below normal, but 3 hours is a red flag.

3. How do you find your personal normal range?

Answer: Track the variable for at least a week. Calculate the range (max - min) and the average. Most of your values will cluster near the average.

4. Can understanding variability reduce stress?

Answer: Yes! Knowing that grades, mood, and energy naturally fluctuate helps you not overreact to a single bad day. Look at the trend, not just today.
