Session 7: Practice Activities
Time to Practice!
6 activities to reinforce what you learned. Try them all!
Difficulty levels: Easy Medium Challenge
1 Data Collection Audit Easy Activity
Pick 3 apps you use. For each one, list: what data might it collect? Does it need all that data to work? Would you still use it if you knew exactly what it collects?
2 Privacy Policy Reader Easy Activity
With a parent, read the privacy policy of one app or website you use. Find: what data is collected, who it is shared with, and whether you can delete your data. Write a one-paragraph summary.
3 Permission Audit Medium Activity
Check the permissions of 5 apps on your device (or a parent's device). For each, ask: does this app really need access to my camera, contacts, location, or microphone? List any unnecessary permissions.
4 Data Privacy Pledge Medium Writing
Write a personal Data Privacy Pledge with at least 5 commitments about how you will protect your own privacy and respect others' privacy. Include the concept of Amana.
5 Digital Footprint Map Medium Creative
Create a visual map of your 'digital footprint' — everywhere your data goes in a typical day. Include: apps, websites, searches, messages, location tracking. How big is your footprint?
6 Privacy Policy Redesign Challenge Critical Thinking
Take a real privacy policy and rewrite it in plain language that a 5th grader can understand. Keep it to one page. What important information was buried in the original? Share your simplified version.
