Workbook — Session 13: I'm Hungry!

Name: _________________________________

Date: _________________________________

Print this page. Use it during the session. Keep it in your folder.

🟢 1. Today's letter — د (dal)

Trace each dal. Start at the top. Make a little curve down and around — like a tiny hook.

د . . . . د . . . . د . . . . د . . . . د

Now try writing one by yourself:

Big dal! Make it huge:

Tip: dal sits on the line. It doesn't dip below like some letters do.

🟡 2. Find the dal

Circle every word that has the letter د (dal) in it:

دَجاج     جوعان     بِدّي     شَبعان     أَكِل

Hint: look for the little hook shape — sometimes at the start, sometimes in the middle.

🟠 3. I can read these words

Read these three words out loud. Point to each one as you say it. Rub your belly when you say "hungry"!

Picture Arabic Say it
😋
جوعان
jou-'aan
🍗
دَجاج
da-jaaj
💧
عَطشان
'at-shaan

After you read them, find a grown-up and say:

أنا جوعان!
(or جوعانة if you're a girl). See if they bring you a snack. 😄

🟣 4. Match the feeling to the picture

Draw a line from each Arabic word to the right picture.

Word Picture
جوعان
─ → 🥛 Needs water
شَبعان
─ → 🍽️ Empty belly
عَطشان
─ → 🤲 Belly full — no more, please!

🔵 5. Draw what you want to eat

If you could say

بِدّي آكول...
right now, what would you ask for? Draw it!

🌟 6. Mini-challenge (optional stretch)

Dal words are everywhere! Here are some foods and things that start with — or have — the letter د:

**دَجاج** (chicken)    **دُبّ** (bear)    **دار** (house)    **وَلَد** (boy)    **جَدّة** (grandma)

Pick one. Copy it into the box. Then draw a tiny picture next to it.

📝 Tonight's home practice (1 minute)

Before dinner tonight, tell someone in your family how you feel — in Arabic. Then ask them how they feel!

I said... To... They said back...
أنا جوعان / جوعانة
_________________ _________________

Bonus: at dinner, point to the chicken (if there is any!) and say

دَجاج
. If there's no chicken, point to anything and try to name it. Guess if you have to.

Bring this workbook back next session.
