Workbook — Session 16: Fruits 🍎

Name: _________________________________

Date: _________________________________

Print this page. Use it during the session. Keep it in your folder.

🟢 1. Today's letter — ز (zay)

Trace each zay. Start at the top left. Curve down like a little smile, then add the dot on top.

ز . . . . ز . . . . ز . . . . ز . . . . ز

Now try writing one by yourself. Don't forget the dot!

Big zay! Make it huge (and put a big fat dot on top):

Tip: ز looks a lot like ر (ra), but ز has a dot. One little dot changes the whole letter!

🟡 2. Find the zay

Circle every word that has the letter ز (zay) in it:

زَبيب     مَوز     تُفّاح     عِنَب     رُمَّان     يَلّا

Hint: two of these fruits have a zay hiding in them.

🟠 3. I can read these words

Read these three fruits out loud. Point to each one as you say it:

Picture Arabic Say it
🍎
تُفّاح
tuf-faah
🍌
مَوز
mawz
🍇
عِنَب
ee-nab

After you read them, ask a grown-up: "Which one is your favorite?"

🟣 4. Match the fruit to its name

Draw a line from each fruit on the left to its Arabic name on the right.

Fruit Name
🍊 ─ →
رُمَّان
🫐 (figs/tin) ─ →
بُرتُقال
🍇 ─ →
تين
❤️ (pomegranate) ─ →
عِنَب

Pomegranate (رُمَّان) is the big red one with the ruby seeds inside. Teta might call it the queen of fruits.

🔵 5. Draw your fruit bowl

Draw a bowl with three of your favorite fruits in it. Label each one in Arabic if you can!

Three fruits in my bowl:

1. ________________ 2. ________________ 3. ________________

🌟 6. Mini-challenge (optional stretch)

Did you know زَبيب (raisins) are just dried عِنَب (grapes)? Same fruit, two names!

Can you think of other fruits that change names when they dry? Ask a grown-up:

Fresh fruit When it's dried, it's called...
عِنَب (grapes)
زَبيب (raisins)
🫐 figs (fresh) _________________
🍑 _________________ _________________

Bonus: both of these dried-fruit answers start with the letter ز. Sneaky!

📝 Tonight's home practice (1 minute)

Go to the kitchen. Find one fruit. Say its Arabic name out loud to someone in your family.

The fruit I found Its Arabic name Who I told

If you can't find a fresh one, look in the pantry — زَبيب? تين? Both count!
