Session 3: Practice Activities

Time to Practice!

Here are 6 activities to reinforce what you learned. Try them all!

Difficulty levels: Easy Medium Challenge

1 Income Tracker Easy Activity

For one week, write down every source of money you receive — allowance, gifts, found coins, earned money. At the end of the week, total it up. This is your weekly income.

2 Expense Detective Easy Research

Track every penny you spend for one week. Write down: what you bought, how much it cost, and whether it was a need or a want. At the end, add up your needs total and wants total.

3 Mock Budget Builder Medium Activity

Create a monthly budget for a fictional student named Amira who receives $40/month from allowance and chores. She needs $5 for school supplies and wants to save for a $60 art set. Build her complete budget.

4 Budget Rescue Mission Medium Critical Thinking

A student spent $50 in one month but only earned $35. Look at their spending list and decide: what can be cut? What was a need? What was a want? Create a new balanced budget for next month.

5 Sadaqah Plan Medium Writing

Design your own giving plan. Decide: How much will you give each week or month? Who or what will you give to? How will you make sure you follow through? Write it down as a commitment.

6 Family Budget Interview Challenge Discussion

Interview a parent or guardian about how they budget. Ask: Do you use a budget? How do you decide what to spend on? What is the hardest part? What advice would you give a 6th grader about budgeting? Write a summary of what you learned.
