Workbook — Session 6: I Am Big, I Am Small

Name: _________________________________

Print this page. Use it during the session. Keep it in your folder.

🟢 1. Today's letter — ح (Ha)

Trace each ḥa. Start at the top. Curve around like a little smile, then close it up.

ح . . . . ح . . . . ح . . . . ح . . . . ح

Now try writing one by yourself:

Big ḥa! Make it huge:

The sound is like a warm breath on a cold window — haaaa. Try it on your hand!

🟡 2. Find the ḥa

Circle every word that has the letter ح (ḥa) in it:

حُلو     كبير     حُلوة     صَغير     مَرحَبا

Hint: three of them have a ḥa. Did you find all three?

🟠 3. I can read these words

Read these three words out loud. Point to each one as you say it:

Picture Arabic Say it
🐘
كبير
kbir (big)
🐭
صَغير
saghir (small)
🥰
حُلو
hilu (sweet/cute)

After you read them, point at something in the room and say if it is كبير or صَغير.

🟣 4. Sort: big or small?

Draw a line from each thing to the right word. Is it big or small?

Thing Word
🐜 ant ─ →
كبير
(big)
🏔️ mountain ─ →
صَغير
(small)
🐘 elephant ─ →
🍓 strawberry ─ →
🚌 bus ─ →

Some lines will cross. That's okay!

🔵 5. Draw it — me and someone in my family

Draw yourself next to someone bigger or smaller than you. Maybe a baby brother. Maybe your tall cousin. Maybe your jiddo.

I am:

أنا _______________
(kbir / kbireh / saghir / saghireh)

They are:

هُوِّ / هِيِّ _______________

🌟 6. Mini-challenge (optional stretch)

Adjectives in Arabic change for boys and girls. Boy words usually end in a regular sound. Girl words usually add an -eh at the end.

Fill in the missing word:

Boy form (m) Girl form (f)
كبير
(kbir)
كبيرة
(kbireh)
صَغير
(saghir)
_____________
طَويل
(tawil)
_____________
حُلو
(hilu)
_____________

See the pattern? Add that little -eh sound and the word becomes a girl word.

📝 Tonight's home practice (1 minute)

Find three people (or pets, or stuffed animals!) at home. Say one Arabic word that describes each one.

Who? The Arabic word I used Is it boy form or girl form?
