Workbook — Session 28: Animals We Know

Print this page. Use it during the session. Keep it in your folder.

🟢 1. Today's letter — ع ('ayn)

Trace each 'ayn. Start at the top of the little hook. Go around like a backwards "c," then curve down.

ع . . . . ع . . . . ع . . . . ع . . . . ع

Now try writing one by yourself:

Big 'ayn! Make it huge:

Tip: 'ayn is a "throat letter." Put your hand on your throat and feel it squeeze a little when you say it.

🟡 2. Find the 'ayn

Circle every word that has the letter ع ('ayn) in it:

عُصفور     قِطّة     حَيَوان     نَعرِف     كَلب     سَبعة

Hint: look carefully — 'ayn can hide in the middle of a word too!

🟠 3. I can read these words

Read these three words out loud. Point to each one as you say it:

Picture Arabic Say it
🐱
قِطّة
qit-ta
🐶
كَلب
kalb
🐦
عُصفور
us-foor

After you read them, ask a grown-up: "Which one is your favorite animal?"

🟣 4. Match the animal to its sound

Draw a line from each animal on the right to the sound it makes on the left.

Sound Animal
🔊 "meow" ─ →
حِمار
🔊 "woof" ─ →
قِطّة
🔊 "hee-haw" ─ →
عُصفور
🔊 "tweet tweet" ─ →
كَلب
🔊 "blub blub" ─ →
سَمَكة

🔵 5. Draw your favorite animal

Draw an animal you love — a pet, an animal at your grandma's, or one you see in your neighborhood. Write its Arabic name underneath.

🌟 6. Mini-challenge (optional stretch)

Sort these animals into two boxes. Where do they usually live?

**قِطّة**    **سَمَكة**    **كَلب**    **عُصفور**    **حِمار**
🏠 Lives near people 🌊 Lives in water

Trick question alert: a عُصفور can live in a tree right outside your balcony — that still counts as near people!

📝 Tonight's home practice (1 minute)

Walk around your home or look out the window. Find one animal — real, in a photo, or a stuffed one — and name it in Arabic.
