Workbook — Session 42: Telling a Tiny Story

Name: _________________________________

Date: _________________________________

Print this page. Use it during the session. Keep it in your folder.

🟢 1. Today's letter — و (waw)

Trace each waw. Start at the top with a little round head. Then pull the tail down and curve it.

و . . . . و . . . . و . . . . و . . . . و

Now try writing one by yourself:

Big waw! Make it huge — really swoop that tail:

Fun fact: waw all by itself means and (وَ). One little letter, one big job.

🟡 2. Find the waw

Circle every word that has the letter و (waw) in it:

يَوم     قِصّة     وَ     ثُمَّ     حَكَى     أَخيراً

Hint: look carefully — waw can be hiding in the middle of a word too.

🟠 3. I can read these words

Read these three story-words out loud. Point to each one as you say it:

Meaning Arabic Say it
📖 story
قِصّة
qis-sa
📅 one day
في يَوم
fee yawm
⏭️ then
ثُمَّ
thum-ma

These are your story-builder words. Every story starts with one of them.

🟣 4. Put the story in order

A story has a beginning, a middle, and an end. Draw a line from each Arabic word to where it belongs in a story:

Word Where it goes
في يَوم
─ → 🏁 The end
ثُمَّ
─ → 🌱 The beginning
أَخيراً
─ → 🚶 The middle

🔵 5. Draw your tiny story

Draw three pictures — your own 3-part story. Anything you want! A cat on a balcony. A trip to the mountains. A snack you ate.

┌───────────────┬───────────────┬───────────────┐
│ │ │ │
│ في يَوم... │ ثُمَّ... │ أَخيراً... │
│ │ │ │
│ │ │ │
│ │ │ │
│ │ │ │
│ (beginning) │ (middle) │ (end) │
│ │ │ │
│ │ │ │
└───────────────┴───────────────┴───────────────┘

Now tell your story out loud to someone. Use the three words at the top of each box!

🌟 6. Mini-challenge (optional stretch)

Try writing one sentence of your story in Arabic. Use a word you already know.

Example:

في يَوم، أَكَلتُ تُفّاحة.
(One day, I ate an apple.)

Your turn:

في يَوم، _______________________________________

ثُمَّ _______________________________________

أَخيراً _______________________________________

Don't worry about spelling. Just try. Squiggles count.

📝 Tonight's home practice (2 minutes)

Tell your 3-sentence story to someone at home tonight — a parent, a sibling, a grandparent on the phone. Use the three story words.

I told my story to... Their favorite part was... They said...

Ask them to tell YOU a tiny story back. Stories go both ways.
