Workbook — Session 33: At My Friend's House

Name: _________________________________

Date: _________________________________

Print this page. Use it during the session. Keep it in your folder.

🟢 1. Today's letter — review day!

No new letter today. Let's practice three you already know. Trace each one slowly:

ض . . . . ض . . . . ض . . . . ض
ت . . . . ت . . . . ت . . . . ت
ج . . . . ج . . . . ج . . . . ج

Now write your favorite one of the three, three times:

🟡 2. Find the letter ض (daad)

Circle every word that has the letter ض in it. This is the special "fat" Arabic letter — Arabic is even called "the language of daad"!

تفَضَّل     اِجلِس     ضَيف     هَلا     بِجيب

Hint: two of them have it.

🟠 3. I can read these words

Read these three words out loud. Point to each one as you say it:

Picture Arabic Say it
🚪
هَلا
ha-la (welcome!)
🪑
اِجلِس
ij-lis (sit down)
🧍
ضَيف
dayf (guest)

After you read them, ask: "Who in our family is the best at saying hala when someone comes over?"

🟣 4. Match the host to what they say

When you visit a friend, the host (the person whose house it is) says nice things to make you feel at home. Draw a line from each Arabic phrase to what it means.

Host says It means
تفَضَّل
─ → Sit down
اِجلِس
─ → Please / go ahead
بِتحِبّ شاي؟
─ → I'll bring it!
بِجيب
─ → Would you like tea?

🔵 5. Draw your friend's house

Draw the inside of a friend's house — maybe the living room, the balcony, or the kitchen. Show yourself as the ضَيف (guest). Where are you sitting? Is someone bringing you something?

🌟 6. Mini-challenge (optional stretch)

Some words change a little when you say them to a boy or a girl. Fill in the missing one:

To a boy (m) To a girl (f) What it means
تفَضَّل
تفَضَّلي
please
اِجلِس
_____________
sit
بِتحِبّ؟
بِتحِبِّي؟
would you like?

Tip: usually you just add a little "ee" sound at the end for a girl.

📝 Tonight's home practice (1 minute)

Pretend someone is visiting your home tonight — a cousin, a neighbor, a stuffed animal, anyone! Be the host. Say two of today's words out loud:

I said this... ...to this person (or toy!) Did they "come in"?
_____________
